The ARWNET Leadership and Advocacy Workshop in Nairobi

The leadership and advocacy workshop of the African Refugee Women-Led Network (ARWNET).

From 21 to 23 October 2025, BRIGHT took part in ARWNET's leadership and advocacy workshop, with Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, Oxfam International and Amnesty International.

The first day explored trust, adaptive leadership, active listening and collective identity, through storytelling, weaving and a guided obstacle exercise. The second connected leadership with advocacy tactics: mentorship, accountability, safety and access to decision-making spaces. The third addressed fundraising, proposal development, skills mapping and coordination.

The network focused its next year of advocacy on three continental priorities: policy inclusion, maternal health and economic empowerment.

For BRIGHT, the workshop connected inclusive education and community engagement with leadership that listens, evidence-based advocacy and practical support for refugee women's dignity and self-reliance.
